International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC)

Website: IPNC (site by Lunabean Media)

We began working with the IPNC in 2001. At the time, they needed a company that could create a new website for them annually, to match the event’s annual theme. Seven years later, we all opted for a more “neutral” website that would only need annual updates. The current IPNC website and online store is the result of our neutral movement, and is now a fantastic resource for attendees while processing hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales annually.

We continue to consult the IPNC regularly, and have helped them with a number of online marketing initiatives.

Willamette Valley Wineries Association – Pinot in the City Mobile Site

Website: PinotintheCity.com (site by Lunabean Media)

Since 2009 we have been working with the Willamette Valley Wineries Association and Oregon Pinot Camp on a number of web marketing initiatives, including web site development consulting, forum installation and design, social media training, Twitter and Facebook marketing, custom Facebook application development, and Facebook Ads. So, when they approached us in 2011 to create a mobile website to promote “Pinot in the City”, we said, “Bring it on”.

R. Stuart & Co. Winery

Website: R. Stuart & Co. (site by Lunabean Media)

In early 2010 we completely overhauled the R. Stuart & Co. site, providing the winery with a website that, not only matched its unique branded style (thanks to the fabulously talented team at Nectar Graphics), but integrated the latest in social media tools, offered a content management system that easy for the winery staff to update, is highly search engine friendly, has a beautifully secure and PCI compliant store, and can handle our online marketing initiatives.

R. Stuart & Co. Winery – Me & My Big Fire Campaign (Photo and QR codes)

Website: MyBigFire.com (site by Lunabean Media)

Early in 2011, Maria came to us with a desire to have fans of R. Stuart & Co. send in their pictures of Big Fire wine wherever they may be. We worked with Maria, Jeff Lorton of LynkSnap (QR codes), and Leah Jorgensen (PR) to implement the project. We helped conceptualize and then completely executed the implementation. The result was the My Big Fire mobile site, a custom Facebook Tabbed Page, and the My Big Fire page on the R. Stuart & Co. website.

Our goal was to make it as easy as possible for a mobile phone user to send in a picture which is why we stripped everything down to simply say, “Snap a pic and send it to photo@mybigfire.com.” This is something that those of us with smartphones do everyday. We also set up an autoresponder system to thank and solicit more info from the entrants.

Archery Summit Winery

Website: ArcherySummit.com

We were approached by Archery Summit in 2011 to create for them an interactive Facebook presence. We created for them a beautiful Facebook photo album app that’s connected to their Flickr feed, a Twitter updater that shares the company’s tweets on its Facebook page, a Facebook shopping cart that allows users to purchase Archery Summit’s wines directly from the Facebook page, and, finally, a “Luxury Winery Weekend” Facebook Contest designed to greatly increase Facebook followers and provide Archery Summit with a list of people interested in its wines.

Li Ning USA

Website: Li Ning USA

When Li Ning USA, a subsidiary of China’s sportswear giant Li Ning Co., opened its retail doors in Portland’s Pearl District in January 2010, it needed a social media push. We provided the push, then provided social media training to the staff so they could keep the push going.

We continue to consult with Li Ning USA and have taken the social media reigns during some of the company’s more important online marketing initiatives, including the introduction of the Baron Davis “BD Doom” shoe and apparel line to Champs stores on the West Coast via a Twitter contest, making the launch, featured in this YouTube video, all the more successful.

Spa Willamina

Website: Spa Willamina

Spa Willamina, a Holistic Day Spa in NE Portland, came to us in 2010 when they decided to step up their online marketing efforts. We began by building the spa’s social media base by offering “Daily Deals” to the spa’s newsletter subscribers and social media followers, along with a number of other incentives. This “base-building” continues to this day, and has provided the Spa with a large direct audience with whom they can communicate on a moment’s notice.

We also took over the Spa’s E-Mail newsletter communications. A clean template, professional copywriting, and the correct placement of links has helped turn every e-mail campaign we’ve managed for the Spa into an enormous success.

Finally, we are now managing Spa Willamina’s Google Adwords account. Within one month of taking over, we nearly quadrupled the Spa’s click-through rate, while lowering the cost of each click.

Ron Kaplan Photography

Website: Ron Kaplan Photography (site by Lunabean Media)

Ron Kaplan needed a site that had to be easy for him to update with new photos. What’s more, he wanted the site to have a “Flash” fade for the front page, but wanted to avoid using Flash so his site would be viewable on iPads and iPhones. Finally, he wanted to be able to process sales, but didn’t feel the need to incorporate a full online store.

The result? A site built with a WordPress backbone, which allows Ron to update his photo collection any time he gets the urge to do so. We installed a WordPress Plugin that allows for the “Flash”-y fade, without the Flash, and provided Ron with a simple PayPal option to sell his photos.

Lunabean.com

Website: Lunabean (design by Lunabean Media)

We founded Lunabean.com in 1999 upon our arrival in Portland, OR from Boston, MA. At the time of the site’s creation, all we had was a name (provided by our cat), and a desire to learn how to make web pages. Lunabean was to be our playground.

Between self-taught web building sessions and waiting tables (did I mention we were two newly graduated Boston College kids with English degrees?), we found an addictive little machine called the Nintendo 64. One of our favorite games at the time was one that went by the name of “Jet Force Gemini”. Combining our desire to learn web building with our love of “JFG”, we created a web page that served as a resource for people who might be stuck in the game. To our amazement, this page became incredibly popular. So, we decided to build more pages dedicated to video games, followed by more pages, followed by more pages.

Fast forward to today, Lunabean.com has sold tens of thousands of e-guides, receives over a million hits a month in traffic, and successfully competes with sites like IGN (owned by Rupert Murdoch’s NewsCorp.) and Gamespot (owned by Viacom) for customers.

Outside of a few of the video game strategy guides, nothing was outsourced. The site was built by us. The copy was written by us. The social media was managed by us (before it was called “social media”, no less). The marketing was done by us.

We have been our most difficult client. We would settle for nothing less than 100% effort 100% of the time, as we knew our livelihood depended on it. That’s what makes us different from other web designers and web marketers. We have lived and breathed this for over 12 years. We can look at a site for five minutes and tell you five ways to make it perform better. It’s not about being good at what we do, it’s that we do what we do.

  • You name it, we have done it.
